About us

Located in the heart of the picturesque Tihany Peninsula, the XIX. century The Houses of History hotel with a historic atmosphere, is perfectly suitable for any corporate or family event. The hotel, in the peaceful, close to nature environment, has several in- and outside event rooms, and also a 88 people accommodation capacity. With its cooperating partners in its surroundings, the accommodation capacity can be extended with 90 more people. The former abbey mansion’s building complex and landscaped garden provide an exclusive environment for any kind of event. The more than half hectare land on the shore of the Inner Lake is only 5 minutes walk away from the center of Tihany, 10 minutes from the abbey, and 15 minutes from Lake Balaton. Among others Tihany’s former dairy house and manorial prison can be found in the territory of the mansion.

Accommodation

The accommodation’s guestrooms hidden between its 200 years old walls offer more opportunities for those who want to relax: double rooms with a view of the Inner Lake, family apartments with terrace coonecting to the garden, duplex apartments with more than one bedrooms. The rooms are furnished with antique furniture without exceptions, as many guest rooms, as many XIX. century romantic experiences for the visitors. In the rooms there are high quality toiletries, fridge, smart TV, hair dryer and Wifi, a few rooms has also a kitchen and a dining room. There is a big pool in the hotel’s garden. The wide selection of regional wine, craft beer and palinka contribute to the unforgettable experiences. After the home cooked and rich buffet breakfast there are many program options available for groups such as different thematic local history walks, carriage ride or sightseeing train and also cruising. It is an outstanding specialty that the building complex, completed by the dawn of the 1830s, has benn home to many agricultural functions of the abbey for over a century and a half. Stables, feed stores, maid’s houses as well as carriage-shed, dairy house and even the peninsula’s manorial prison operated on the hotel’s grounds. The latter can still be found in the cellar of building 5.

Our address: 61. Major street, Tihany, 8237. (GPS koordinates: 46°54'42.0"N 17°53'06.1"E). The accommodation can be approached by car from motorway 7 at the Balatonfüred exit, through road 71, or at the Szántód-rév exit by the Szántód-Tihany ferry. By public transport: the bus stop is 5 minutes walk away. The venue is 1,5 hours away from Budapest.
